Vineyards: viticultural region: Marche, province of Ancona.
Location: in the commune of Castelplanio, Contrada Piagge Novali.
Age: various, from 7 to 35 years old.
Soil: very deep with presence of stones and prevalence of sands and clays of Plio-Pleistocene and Miocene with tendency to limestone.

Grape varieties and cultivation: grapes: 100% Verdicchio.System of cultivation: upside down and double guyot.Density of planting: 1.700-3.500 vines per hectare.Yield per hectare: 70 q of grapes with pruning system with reduced load of buds per plant, allowing the accumulation of substances processed in a few bunches per vine.

Vinification: harvesting: the late ripening grapes are harvested manually, selecting the best bunches and put to dry with noble rot on racks for 3 months.Vinification: fermentation takes place in barrique and lasts about one month.Maturation: aging in barrique for 12 months, aging in bottle for one year.

Food pairing: do not waste it on the sweets of the pastry shop. Tordiruta is a great wine and deserves more attention: great blue cheeses (Gorgonzola, Roqueford, Blu Stilton, Fossa di Talamello), perhaps served with ripe Williams or Abate or Decane pears, fresh or even better cooked in a little of the same wine, water and a little sugar, with a touch of chestnut honey, or Marche fig loin, or Mantua fruit mostarda. The heights of enjoyment are reached with foie gras, duck breast and Canard all'orange.
